Engineer Alessandro Ferretti

CEO

Engineer Alessandro Ferretti, together with professors Fabio Rocca and Claudio Prati, is the co-inventor of the first PS technique: PSInSAR™, and latest algorithm SqueeSAR™. Since 2000, he has been the Managing Director of TRE.

Born in 1968 in Milan, Italy, he graduated (cum laude) in electronic engineering in 1993 from Politecnico di Milano (POLIMI) University. He joined the SAR group of POLIMI in 1994 and began working alongside professors Rocca and Prati on the elaboration of digital elevation models (DEM) and satellite radar interferometry.

As of 2008, Engineer Alessandro Ferretti is also Chairman of the Board of TRE Canada Inc.

Professor Fabio Rocca

President

Professor of Numeric Signal Elaboration at Politecnico di Milano (POLIMI) University.

Professor Fabio Rocca graduated (cum laude) in electronic engineering in 1962 and is now a member of the ESA (European Space Agency) TerraSAR committee, coordinating an expert support laboratory in the area of scientific activity supporting the ENVISAT satellite.

He is the co-inventor of three patents on SAR radar systems and also co-founder of TRE. He is a member of the scientific council at the National Institute of Oceanography, Experimental Geophysics of the Italian Space Agency (ASI), and of the scientific council of the Institut Francais du Petrole. He is also associate editor of the Seismic Exploration journal.

In the past, Professor Rocca was the president of the European Association of Exploration Geophysicists. In 2001 he received an honorary degree in Geophysics from the Institut Polytechnique de Lorraine, Nancy. In 1991 Professor Rocca ran the Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) research group between ESA and POLIMI when the group was starting its development of innovative techniques in interferometry.

Professor Claudio Prati

Director

Born in 1958, Professor Claudio Prati graduated (cum laude) in electronic engineering from Politecnico di Milano (POLIMI) University. In 1987 he received his doctorate and entered the Center for Space Telecommunications Studies of the Italian Research Council.

His research activities have always concerned the study of digital signals, tomographics and emissions and Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR), for which he experimented with new focalization techniques and applications for the data. He filled the role of external responsible for experiments on interferometry, carried out by the European Laboratory for Microwave Signals at Ispra.

He won the IEEE Geoscience and Remote Sensing Society Symposium Award for the best scientific publication in 1989 and 2000. He is the co-inventor of the first PS technique: PSInSAR™, and latest algorithm SqueeSAR™, and is co-founder and Director of TRE.
