SqueeSAR™ is used as a tool to monitor the stability of flood defenses.
Radar satellite imagery can be used to map ground displacements occurring on and around flood defense structures. SqueeSAR™ is capable of measuring ground movement to millimeter accuracy, providing data for use in risk assessment models and emergency preparedness.
Structural Stability
Satellite monitoring detects displacement along flood defenses and can identify movement that may indicate structural weakness. Surface deformation data allows engineers to determine if remedial action should be taken to prevent further structural damage or potential failure.
Precursory Movement
SqueeSAR™ can detect millimeter scale precursory displacement occurring on subsiding or damaged flood defenses. Ground deformation data can provide authorities with regular updates on ground displacement, allowing for areas of apparent instability to be identified.
Remote Monitoring
Radar satellite monitoring identifies natural and man-made targets already present on the ground to monitor surface displacement, requiring no ground-based instrumentation.
This technique is ideal for operations in inaccessible and unsafe areas.
