Oil and Gas: Applications

Oil and gas companies can now really take advantage of the benefits of TRE oil field analyses.

TRE uses remote sensing data from SAR-mounted satellite platforms to deliver long-term, cost-effective monitoring measurements, without the need for extensive ground surveys - invaluable for monitoring and optimizing oil and gas field operations.

Oil and gas companies from around the world rely on TRE’s millimetre-precision measurements of ground-surface displacements, which lead to a significant improvement in the understanding of the dynamics of subsurface behavior, and hence have a positive economic effect on oil field production.

Other benefits include the mitigation of risk to the local environment (arising from extraction and injection processes), permeability estimation of the oil field and leakage identification allowing rapid response to fluid migration.

We have developed tailored services to specifically address the needs of the oil and gas sector.
Our three main areas of application are:

Traditional ground based surveys (for example; geological, geophysical, geochemical investigations, core and log analysis, well testing, etc.) can provide useful information for validation of reservoir models in the subsurface; however, spatial densities are often low.  Our technology not only complements data obtained from ground based surveys, but also has a significantly higher spatial density, often on the scale of hundreds to thousands times more per square kilometre. Hence, full scale surveys are often conducted for a fraction of the cost of the equivalent ground based surveys.

This technology gives oil and gas companies the opportunity to continuously monitor oil fields, make informed decisions on changes in the subsurface and quickly react to impending situations - saving considerable time and money.
