It is suitable for large-scale analyses and the detection of:
- landslides,
- subsidence/uplift phenomena,
- seismic faults,
It provides deformation data over large areas of interest (AOI), even exceeding 10,000 km². The lower area threshold is typically in the range of 50 to 100 km².
Who could benefit from such an analysis?
- The oil&gas sector: information about surface motion leads to a better understanding of the terrain and better co-ordination of production drilling. Further, during production, the possible risks to the local environment arising from extraction can be continuously monitored.
- The public administration for determining the rate of movements over a long time period and a large territory scale. Hazard maps are used, for example, for the updating of hydro-geological asset plans.
- The civil protection for understanding fault mechanisms, that are critical to earthquake forecasting.
- Research groups for studying ground movements over large areas.
Possible updating after 6 months – 1 year
